LigerCat is a bidirectional search engine, using PubMed, dbSNP, and Gene, that allows the user to use genes to find articles or to use articles to find genes.
The data used to power LigerCat is pulled on a schedule via a Julia script from NCBI Entrez. This data is loaded into a MySQL database that supports a Django web app. The LigerCat interface is a tradtional website (not single page app) built using the Django templating language.
LigerCat was built by Sarah Bai in partnership with Dr. Neil Sarkar and Dr. Elizabeth Chen at the Brown Center for Biomedical Informatics.
